Why the drum?

 

We all have a heartbeat. This is Spirit's way of connecting us to the rhythm of life, to each other, and to Spirit itself. No matter what your background, no matter what your experience is with music, you can connect with the drum — and through the drum, with your deepest self.

Why meditation?

 

Meditation is hard. Many of us cannot calm our hectic schedules or quiet our minds long enough to relax, much less meditate. The ancient shamanic beat of the drum slows down our brain activity and puts us in that relaxation (and deeply healing) state without effort.

Meditation
Why LifeBeats?

 

I first heard the beat of the drum during a trip to the Salish Kootenai reservation in Montana over twenty years ago.  In 2010, while seeking relief from the stress of being a busy working wife and mother, I found the drum again, this time playing one for the first time (djembe) in a local drum circle at the urging of a friend. Since then I have continued to play, I became a trained HealthRhythms® facilitator, and reconnected with that ancient Native American beat through the frame drum after meeting Cathy Flinn, a local drum-maker and meditation facilitator. I have found healing power in the drum, no matter what form the drumming takes. I hope others will, too.
